GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - With Halloween falling on a Friday this year, police expect more trick-or-treaters out in Greenville.
Captain Justin Wooten of the Greenville Police Department shared tips to help families stay safe during the holiday. He says children should wear something bright on their costumes, so they are easily seen while walking. Families should also be careful of traffic and use sidewalks when possible.
“It is important when you have your costumes on that there is going to be vehicle traffic going back and forth. So be mindful of the traffic, if there is a sidewalk, use it, and if not, stay to the sides of the road when you go house to house,” Wooten said.
Wooten also said parents should inspect all Halloween candy, making sure it’s in its original packaging and hasn’t
