FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A ribbon-cutting on Wednesday marked a milestone for Allen County.
The ceremony celebrated the completion of the Bass Road Improvement Project, a years-long initiative that began as a vision in the Allen County 2030 Transportation Plan.
Improvements completed during the project include:
4.5 miles of complete reconstruction,
4 roundabouts, including the first in Indiana to include a rail line,
3 bridge projects, including two new bridges and a rehabilitation,
A 4.5-mile pedestrian trail, and
An introduction of SMART technology in concrete pavements.
“Today, as we cut this ribbon, we’re not just opening a road — we’re opening a new chapter for Allen County," said county officials. “Thank you to everyone who played a role in making Bass Road a success.”
