(KBTX) - The Sam Houston football team (0-7, 0-4) travels to Louisiana Tech on Friday at 7:00 p.m. The Bearkats look to avoid starting 0-8 for the second time in three seasons.

Last year’s matchup between the two programs, Sam Houston walked away with a 9-3 win over the Bulldogs. In 2023, the Bearkats picked up their first win at the FBS level against LA Tech 42-27.

Sam Houston went into that 2023 matchup 0-8 on the season. Following 42-27 win over the Bulldogs, the Bearkats went on to win the last three of their four games.

“This transition to the FBS is a five-year transition and this is the third year,” head coach Phil Longo said. “This is the hump year; this is probably the most difficult year.
