Dorothy Laskey, a second-grade teacher at McKean Elementary School, has been honored with this week's JET 24 PennWest University Golden Apple Award for her exceptional contributions to education.
Laskey, who moved from California to the local area three years ago, has 20 years of teaching experience. Her dedication to making learning fun and engaging has earned her high praise from students and colleagues alike.
"She makes learning fun, and because she makes us be happy every day," said Mila Olszewski, the student who nominated Laskey for the award. "I'm really thankful she's my teacher and that she works here."
