The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) halted all flights at Newark Liberty International Airport Wednesday afternoon, attributing the cause to "staffing issues" caused by the current federal government shutdown, which is now nearing it's first full month and counting. The ground stop was issued at 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, with the FAA stating that it would be lifted at 4:15 p.m. However, the stop was lifted sooner than that, but in its place is now a ground delay that is slated to last until at least 11 p.m., according to the FAA. All flights at Newark Liberty International - one of the busiest airports in the country - will be delayed for an average of approximately 40 minutes, as per the agency.
