GUILFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - An apple orchard on Connecticut is supporting their Jamaican workers after Hurricane Melissa ripped through the island.
At Bishop’s Orchards Farm Market in Guilford, 100% of sales today and tomorrow from their apples in the Farm Market will go directly to their Jamaican workers who are heading home at the end of the week. They say these workers are going home to devastation, not knowing the full extent of what they are going to face.
“These men have been with us since June—working tirelessly through the heat, the rain, and the long days that make our harvest possible. They leave their families for months at a time to provide for them back home, showing a level of dedication and heart that inspires us every single day," the orchard said in a post on Facebook.
