MAYFLOWER, Ark. – The chief of the Mayflower Police Department announced his resignation on Wednesday.

Mayflower Police Chief Douglas Hunter posted the resignation on the agency’s Facebook page.

In the post, Hunter noted that the move is a result of “changes and demands” made by the Mayflower City Council. There is no word yet on what the changes and demands were.

“After much thought and consideration, I have decided it is necessary to step aside and allow the city council to choose new leadership and move forward under the council’s vision,” Hunter said.
