Video: Mayflower City Council meeting gets heated amid animal control policy discussion

MAYFLOWER, Ark. – The mayor of Mayflower has announced plans to resign from the position.

In a letter, Mayor Danny Hester shared that he will resign effective Nov. 4. He said the decision comes amid disagreement with the direction and changes that the city council wants to implement.

“As a growing city, it is our responsibility to support our first responders and animal control services in such a way that provides for citizen safety, optimal response times, and adequate coverage and backup within the city for emergency situations,” the letter read.
