THORNTON, Colo. (KDVR) — The sister of a man killed after colliding with a vehicle while riding an electric scooter is urging other riders to wear a helmet.
Shana Long says her 39-year-old brother, Bryan Bookland, was riding his scooter on Thursday night in Thornton when he collided with a driver.
Thornton police say the 22-year-old male mini-van driver stayed on-scene, near the intersection of West 88th Avenue and Lipan Street. Bookland was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
“My mom got a call from the hospital,” said Long. “Saying that he had been in an accident and she had to hurry to the hospital.”
Long said her brother was not wearing a helmet. She is now advocating for other riders to wear one. • Bryan Bookland was killed while riding an electric scooter. (Courtesy of Shana L
