YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) - Youngstown State men's basketball bested Akron, 84-78, after a strong second half in an exhibition matchup at Beeghly Center on Wednesday night.

After trailing by nine at halftime, the Penguins stormed back to outscore the Zips by 15 in the second half, using a 7-0 run in the final minutes to pull away.
The Penguins were led in scoring by McLennan Community College transfer Tae Blackshear with 19 points. Another newcomer, Bryson Dawkins, registered 16 points in his first action at YSU.
Other key contributors for the 'Guins include Imaneul Zorgvol with 13 points and three blocks, while Rich Rolf grabbed a team-leading eight rebounds.
