Kathy Rodolph will no longer be continuing as New Mexico State's softball coach in what the university is calling a "coaching transition", it was announced on Wednesday, Oct. 29.

Assistant coach Cat Heifner will also be leaving the program.

Benet Higgs, another assistant, will serve as the interim coach for the 2026 season.

The Las Cruces Sun-News has reached out to NM State deputy athletic directors Braun Cartwright and Amber Burdge to clarify if Rodolph and Heifner's departures were a firing or a move they made on their own.
