Former LCPD officer testifies in his own defense during murder trail

Both sides rested their case on Oct. 29 in the trial against former Las Cruces Police Department officer Felipe Hernandez.

Hernandez is charged with second-degree murder after allegedly shooting Teresa Gomez in her vehicle as she started to drive away from him during an encounter at an apartment complex along Burley Court in the early morning hours of Oct. 3, 2023.
