ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A federal judge denied bond for a man Atlanta police say threatened to shoot up Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Billy Joe Cagle appeared for the hearing at the federal courthouse in Atlanta on Wednesday afternoon.

Defense attorneys proposed house arrest, an ankle monitor, a family member staying with Cagle, or having him stay at an in-patient facility.

The judge, though, sided with prosecutors, deciding that releasing Cagle was too risky for the safety of the community.

Federal prosecutors have charged Cagle after his family told police he planned a shooting on Oct. 20. Cagle was detained last week with an assault rifle and ammunition in his truck at the international airport, according to police.
