ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - About 1.4 million Georgians could lose SNAP, also known as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, benefits in November because of the ongoing government shutdown.
In the Peach State, there are nine regional food banks that divide up and serve Georgia’s 159 counties.
Atlanta Community Food Bank covers the bulk of the metro Atlanta counties, including Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett and Cobb.
North Georgia is covered by three different food banks: Chattanooga Area Food Bank , Georgia Mountain Food Bank and Food Bank of Northeast Georgia .
