BURLINGTON, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) - Burlington officials at a Wednesday night meeting considered two separate proposals for traffic and pedestrian safety.
The Transportation, Utility, Energy and Utilities Committee (TUEC) began by considering how to improve safety at the Vermont Route 127/Plattsburgh Avenue intersection in the New North End.
An estimated 120 crashes have occurred on VT-127 near the intersection since 2012, making it the second-most dangerous spot on Burlington's section of the highway.
One idea brought up by multiple residents at the meeting was to block off the right-turn slip lane from Plattsburgh Avenue on to VT-127 - slowing down traffic by making it go through the stop light and then take a 90-degree right turn.
