ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Crime rates have declined substantially in Alexandria since 2021, according to new data released by the Alexandria Police Department .

According to the release from January 1, 2022, to December 2024:

Vehicle burglaries decreased by 11%

Aggravated burglaries decreased by 50%

Unauthorized entries decreased by 45%

Felony thefts decreased by 13%

Overall property crimes decreased by 12%

Alongside previously reported statistics , homicide and gun violence rates from January 1, 2022, to September 2025:

Overall Homicides decreased by 48% (APD said this statistic has been averaged and rounded down.)

Non-fatal shootings decreased by 33%
