CHAPEL HILL — It wasn’t pretty at times, but UNC basketball completed its preseason schedule with a 95-53 win against Division II Winston-Salem State on Oct. 29.

The 25th-ranked Tar Heels struggled at the start from 3-point range and the free-throw line, but they were able to push the pace and stretch out their lead with a second-half surge to pull away from the Rams.

Freshman forward Caleb Wilson followed an impressive unofficial debut at BYU with 23 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks against Winston-Salem State. Wilson was one of four starters to finish in double figures.

The Tar Heels were up 13 at halftime before outscoring the Rams 56-27 in the second half to make it a rout. UNC tips off the regular season on Nov. 3 (7 p.m., ACC Network) against Central Arkansas in Chapel Hill.
