CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A paper manufacturer in Chesapeake caught fire on Wednesday night.
Chesapeake firefighters said they received several 911 calls from the Yupo Corporation in Greenbrier, at 800 Yupo Court, with reports of a fire, around 9:23 p.m.
When they arrived, firefighters found a fire had broke out in an interior pit that contained shredding materials.
All employees were evacuated from the building, and no injuries were reported.
The fire was contained to the interior pit and nearby machinery, firefighters said. The fire was brought under control by 10:07 p.m.
The Chesapeake Fire Department said the plant will remain temporarily shutdown while the company assesses the damage.
