BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Community Action Partnership of Kern operates the largest food bank in Kern County.
Each month, more than 200,000 Kern County residents rely on SNAP and CalFresh benefits to help put food on the table.
Although, the shutdown is bound to greatly impact those benefits.
In a Wednesday presser, CAPK announced that it will help those most affected by the shutdown, including government workers and recipients of the CalFresh Program. Normally, the CAPK food bank sees roughly 200,000 visitors a month and distributes about 2 million pounds of food.
With the government shutdown, they expect the number of visitors to increase.
