CASNOVIA, Mich. — It’s been a scary few hours for a Casnovia woman, who wasn’t able to speak with her mom since communication in Jamaica was lost after Hurricane Melissa.
Anna-Lis Seevers says her mother, Beth, decided to take a last-minute trip to Jamaica with a friend last week.
However, with the airport closed, she was left stranded at her resort in Negril through Melissa’s landfall.
“I feel bad for everyone there, but when it's your own family, you get scared,” Seevers said.
She says she lost contact with her Tuesday night.
“I contacted the US Embassy this morning, and they are unable to help me. I contacted the American Red Cross. They were unable to help me. And then I tried to reach out to the Jamaican Red Cross without any answers.”
