RAYWOOD, Texas — Ranchers across Southeast Texas say they’re struggling to stay afloat amid higher prices, dry weather and a dwindling cattle supply, creating what many describe as a “changing market.”

At the Raywood Livestock Market, owner Kory Brett said his family’s business has been a cornerstone of the community for more than 50 years, but the challenges have taken a toll. “This facility, it’s not just for us, it’s for the people around us,” Brett said. “You know, it’s like we’re trying to provide a service.”
