DUNNELLON, Fla. (WCJB) - Dunnellon city leaders are waiting to see what happens after they sent a letter to the Department of Environmental Protection opposing a controversial permit request.
The permit would be for a railroad tie shredding company.
City council members are against “Track Line Rail LLC” operating a shredding and grinding facility treated with creosote in unincorporated Marion County.
According to the EPA, creosote is considered a hazardous chemical.
Officials approved the letter to be sent during their Monday night meeting.
