— Don’t eat any candy until it has been inspected at home, for any potential hazards (razor blades or pins, rare but it can happen) and allergens (nuts etc.) Maybe eat a lot before to avoid the temptation of snacking on an uninspected treat.
— Don’t accept, or eat treats that aren’t commercially wrapped like home baked goods which should be avoided along with any commercially-wrapped candies with open wrappers, pinholes or tears.
— Beware of choking by making sure kids do not snack on treats when they are talking, running or playing.
— Once home, have adults check candy ingredients for potential allergens.
