LOS ANGELES—The Blue Jays defeated Blake Snell in Game 1 of the World Series by making him work early and getting to the Los Angeles Dodgers bullpen . In Game 5, they switched up the approach and ambushed him instead.

Before Snell even had time to settle in on Wednesday night, the Jays were already doing damage. Davis Schneider and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. set the tone with a pair of first inning home runs and the Jays never looked back in a pivotal 6-1 victory at Dodger Stadium.

Schneider homered on the first pitch he saw and seconds later Guerrero hit his franchise-record eighth of the post-season. Those two blasts combined with seven dominant innings from rookie Trey Yesavage have put the Jays on the cusp of their first World Series title since 1993.
