SHREVEPORT, La. — A Caddo Parish jury found a Shreveport man guilty of second-degree rape on Wednesday for committing sexual acts with a 13-year-old girl in November 2023.

The jury in District Judge Ramona Emanuel's court deliberated for just over an hour before returning the guilty verdict against Brandon Lehard Moore, 33.

Prosecutors presented evidence that on the date of the crime, Moore approached the victim, smoked marijuana with her, and then forced her to perform an oral sexual act. He also attempted to have intercourse with the girl at an apartment complex in Caddo Parish.

The victim testified, along with a DNA expert, a sexual assault nurse examiner, and a Shreveport police detective.

When Moore returns for sentencing on Dec. 4, he faces a sentence of up to 40 years in prison.
