HILLSBORO, Ore. — Family, friends and elected officials gathered early Wednesday afternoon in Hillsboro in front of the Washington County Courthouse to call for the release of Victor Cruz , a grandfather and husband who was detained by federal agents earlier this month.

According to Cruz's family friend, Erin Palmer, Cruz had a valid work permit through 2029, a pending U-visa and had deferred action status.
