Dhenkanal : A baby elephant was rescued from an abandoned well near Kurunti village under Dhenkanal Sadar range.
According to reports, the calf, estimated to be around 3-4 months old, fell into the 5-foot deep well while moving with its herd and mother elephant early this morning. Although the herd moved away, the mother elephant stayed behind, refusing to leave its calf.
After making several attempts to rescue its calf, and mother elephant finally succeeded in rescuing the calf from the well. The mother and calf then walked away into the forest.
