Though far from the boiling point, the 2026 elections are starting to simmer.
Nationally and across the state, Democrats and Republicans will resume their centuries of power battles in the House of Representatives, Senate and other offices.
Locally, three “nonpartisan” Scottsdale City Council seats will be on the ballot, with a likely August primary (depending on the number of qualified candidates) followed by the General Election in November.
Councilwoman Solange Whitehead, nearing the end of her second term, announced she plans to run for reelection.
“We’ve made great progress—but challenges remain,” Whitehead said, in her newsletter announcement.
Whitehead invited Scottsdale voters to sign her nominating petition at an Oct. 10 event.
