Lennar Homes wants to rezone 60 vacant acres at Hawes Crossing, essentially flipping the locations of the commercial and residential areas.

Mesa City Council last week set Nov. 3 for the hearing on Hawes Village Five at the northeast corner of the intersection of Hawes and Warner roads in the mammoth master-planned community. The site includes eight villages.

Lennar Homes is seeking a rezone of 60 acres in Hawes Crossings, which is expected to go to council for consideration Nov. 3.

“The request is to move that general commercial zoning from its location up against the freeway to the corner of Warner and Hawes roads,” principal Planner Evan Balmer said at the Oct. 9 council study session.
