The National Medical Commission (NMC) has once again updated the total number of MBBS and BDS seats available for admission to medical colleges. Earlier, the seat matrix showed 1,28,925 medical seats. It has now been revised to 1,28,875, marking a reduction of 50 seats.
For the academic year 2025–26, 11,350 new seats have been added, bringing the total number of medical seats, including those at AIIMS and JIPMER, to 1,28,875.
However, in the previous version of the revised seat matrix, the NMC had shown an addition of 11,400 seats. This has now been corrected, creating a difference of 100 seats compared to the earlier list. The NMC also mentioned that 456 seats were reduced during the renewal process for 2025–26.
