SUNNYSIDE, Wash. – The Sunnyside City Council this week officially proclaimed October 2025 as breast cancer awareness month, marking 40 years of national advocacy for early detection and education.

Alysianna Aguirre, known for her role in " Queens for a Cure ," played a key part in leading the effort. Her work has been instrumental in raising funds for research and education, the city announced.

The proclamation encourages the community to spread hope, promote screenings and support those affected by breast cancer.
