A Bangladeshi national has been arrested for allegedly desecrating an idol at a temple in Devarabisanahalli village in Bengaluru. The accused, identified as cobbler Kabir Mandal (45), is alleged to have been living in Bengaluru illegally.
According to police, Kabir entered the temple drunk on Tuesday morning and desecrated an idol while wearing shoes. Locals claim the accused also shouted "Allah Hu Akbar."
Locals and temple staff became enraged when they caught hold of the accused, tied him to a pole, and beat him. Police arrived at the scene and detained the accused, and an investigation is underway. Accused youth Kabir Mandal was severely beaten by the crowd after being tied to a pole.
