100 Years Ago, 1925: The jury in the case of Mrs. Hilda Knopf of Chester against the County of Delaware for damages incurred by the collapse of the West Third Street Bridge on the night of Sept. 10, 1921 — in which disaster her husband, Morris Knopf, lost his life — this morning returned a sealed verdict that awarded $3,120 damages for Mrs. Knopf. This is the first case to be lost by the county in suits arising from the catastrophe.

75 Years Ago, 1950: Chester’s finale to its gala Halloween celebration will take place tonight with a colorful outburst of costuming and decorations as a grand parade marches through the city’s main thoroughfares.
