Iwrite with concern about the gerrymandered state of Ohio’s voting districts, which have become more partisan and more entrenched in recent years. I write as a person of faith who believes all God’s children have value and should have agency to affect outcomes in the political process.

As a Christian pastor and someone trying to follow Jesus, who calls me to “love my neighbor,” I advocate that voices no longer be silenced by unfair district maps.

I also write as a patriotic American who wholeheartedly supports democracy and free and fair elections in which voters choose their representatives. In our severely gerrymandered state, it seems more and more that our state government’s supermajority is choosing its voters while prioritizing partisan special interests.
