With Halloween soon approaching, Missouri's attorney general's office is reminding residents about the state's strict safety measures regarding registered sex offenders.
Here's what parents should know about the law and how they can keep their kids safe while trick-or-treating in Missouri.
What is prohibited under Missouri's sex offender law on Halloween?
Under Missouri law , registered sex offenders must adhere to these restrictions on Oct. 31:
Avoid all Halloween-related contact with children
Remain inside their residence from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., unless they have to leave for work, have a medical emergency or something of a similar urgency.
Turn off all outdoor lights and decorations no later than 5 p.m.
