LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- Eastbound I-10 is at a standstill in Lafayette due to a fire, authorities said.

According to an alert from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, all lanes of eastbound I-10 are blocked due to a vehicle fire at the Evangeline Thruway interchange.

I-10 Eastbound is closed and all traffic is being diverted off the interstate at the University Avenue exit. The I-10 Eastbound on-ramp at I-49 is also closed.

The Lafayette Police Department said the road is closed due to "a major incident involving an 18-wheeler fire."
