Arizona is making a minuscule dent in the expected impact of a cutoff of food stamp benefits with a $1.8 million allocation announced by Gov. Katie Hobbs.

The funding will primarily support food banks around the state, which were already seeing increased demand and are bracing for a rush of need after Nov. 1. The state will also provide 10,000 vouchers of $30 each to buy fresh foods at farmers markets and community groceries through a new Food Bucks Now program .
