VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. (WEVV) — A missing Posey County woman was found dead after never making it home from work, according to authorities.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office says that on Tuesday, 44-year-old Rebecca Versteeg of Wadesville was reported missing by her husband.

After an exhaustive search, the sheriff's office says Versteeg was located in her vehicle, deceased.

According to VCSO, Versteeg was employed as a nurse at Solarbron in Evansville. Shortly before leaving work on Tuesday, she reportedly spoke with her husband on the phone and said she was experiencing chest pain, which she thought was indigestion from lunch.

After Versteeg's husband returned home and found she had never returned home, he contacted both the Posey County and Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office
