WASHINGTON, D.C. (KCRG) - Thousands of Iowans could see their health care insurance premiums double next year as open enrollment begins Saturday.
This morning, Iowa Rep. J.D. Scholten and an impacted Iowa citizen U.S. will join Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) to address what they call the “impending health care crisis.”
The senators plan to call on President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans to extend health credits and keep costs from increasing.
The conference comes on the 30th day of the government shutdown, causing uncertainty for those enrolled in the Affordable Care Act.
Congress is deadlocked on how to handle expiring subsidies that have made marketplace health insurance less expensive for millions since 2021.
