A historic masterpiece on Rim Road just hit the El Paso market for just under $1.6 million.

The Spanish-Colonial style mansion, located at 701 Rim Road, has stood at its corner lot for nearly a century — the breathtaking residence was originally known as the W.F. Ritter home when it was built in 1930.

Winfield F. Ritter was a successful businessman who worked in lumber, power and hotel industries, according to El Paso Times archives.

The Ritter residence was featured in the El Paso Times in 1937 and described as resembling an "old world castle" with its clay-red flat tile roof and quaint stained-glass windows. At the time, Ritter's wife said the mansion was a "culmination of many hopes and dreams."
