BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- The City of St. George takes another step toward independence with the launch of its new public works request system on Nov. 1.
Officials said the city has worked with East Baton Rouge Parish in the transition over recent months. Thousands of public works requests have been submitted through the parish's system to address repairs, drainage and beautification projects.
St. George will be taking on a backlog of work as it builds its public works team with city staff and local contractors. Mayor Dustin Yates asks for patience as the city government develops systems for services.
