An 11-year-old girl whose remains were found in a storage bin outside an abandoned home in Connecticut this month suffered abuse and neglect at the hands of adults in her family, who then allegedly lied to friends, relatives, and police about the girl’s whereabouts and the circumstances of her death, according to court records.
Police reports filed in the case show authorities determined that Jacqueline “Mimi” Torres Garcia died in the fall of 2024 while living in Farmington, Conn., with her mother, Karla Garcia, 29, and her mother’s then-boyfriend, Jonatan Nanita, 30, who were responsible for her care.
