Fallout from a recent Tiverton Town Council decision to withhold $1.1 million in requested gaming funds from the Tiverton School Department escalated into a dressing down Monday evening, as town council members rebuked Tiverton School Committee Chairwoman Diane Farnworth for recent comments and called for a cooling of rhetoric. Farnworth was not in attendance.

In calling out what councilors suggested were troubling comments made over the $1.1 million, councilor Craig Committo said: “It’s clear and obvious what her thoughts are of working with the town council," claiming also that school committee members cut him off at recent committee meetings and hearings.

Recent comments by Farnworth, councilor Deb deMedeiros added, "“were not true, and that really bothered me."
