This is a very scary situation for many New York families who depend on those benefits to feed their families. One way that many in Upstate New York feed their families is by hunting deer. Each year the New York State DEC runs their Feeding New York State program to help stock food banks with meat that is gathered by hunters across the state. They say that they get between 50 and 70,000 pounds of venison each year and this year that will help more than ever.
