NEW YORK -- Ballet schools can often be expensive and inaccessible for students in under-resourced areas, so a performing arts nonprofit is providing an alternative - free training.
"Ballet isn't for everybody, but it can be for anybody," said Michelle Cave, founder and director of Ballet and Beyond NYC . "I never want cost or access to be a barrier."
The organization partners with after-school programs and other nonprofits to bring ballet studios to students - clearing the impediments of cost and travel. Anyone with a desire and passion for dance, not just ballet, can find themselves welcome.
Its free summer intensive program, the Repertory Youth Summer Enrichment (R.Y.S.E.) Conservatory, runs six weeks, Monday through Friday. Students learn from a wide range of disciplines, includi
