Police are investigating after a driver hit and killed a cyclist in Northeast Portland’s Hazelwood neighborhood on Wednesday evening.

The fatal incident happened around 6:20 p.m. in the 11200 block of Northeast Glisan Street, the Portland Police Bureau said in a statement.

First responders arrived at the scene and started treating the cyclist less than 10 minutes later, police said, but the cyclist died despite their efforts.

Police said the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Police haven’t announced any arrests and didn’t release the identity of the driver or the person who died.

The Portland police traffic division’s major crash team is investigating the incident, and police ask anyone with information about the crash to e-mail crimetips@police.portl
