A Winnipeg high school football player who suffered a serious injury during a game earlier this month has died, his family confirmed in Facebook Post.
Darius “Dee” Hartshorne, a Grade 12 student at Sisler High School and member of the Sisler Spartans football team, passed away early Thursday morning, 12 days after being hurt during a game against the Tec Voc Hornets on Oct. 17.

He was injured while returning the opening kickoff and was later placed in a medically induced coma after developing complications that affected his organs and brain.
In a Facebook post shared Thursday morning, Stephanie Ciaralli — who raised Hartshorne — said he died peacefully with family at his side.
