FARGO — The committee chosen to sift through proposals and recommend a convention center project to the Fargo City Commission has been terrifically transparent. Spearheaded by chairman Charley Johnson, a good human, the committee has been up front every step of the way since voters approved a hotel tax hike for the project last year.
Let’s hope things stay that way.
The convention center will be an exciting upgrade for Fargo, a city that in recent years has reverted to a propensity for short-sightedness and small thinking. Think of the much-needed renovations to the Fargodome that were twice proposed and twice rejected, the second time by a dishearteningly wide margin.
