A jury has retired to consider its verdict in the trial of a man accused of murdering his ex-partner inside her southwestern Sydney high-rise apartment after cutting off her triple-0 call and throwing her phone from her balcony.

Danny Zayat, 30, is fighting allegations in the NSW Supreme Court that he murdered Tatiana Dokhotaru inside her 22nd-floor Liverpool unit on the evening of May 26, 2023.

Mr Zayat has pleaded not guilty to murder, denied doing anything to hurt her and claims she was alive when he left her apartment.

Her body was discovered when Mr Zayat returned the following day and phoned triple-0.

Mr Zayat is accused of killing his former partner by inflicting several blows to her head, possibly in combination with causing her to fall.
