HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Four veterans representing different military branches will serve as marshals for Saturday’s Veterans Parade in downtown Hastings at 10 a.m. The branches had members like, Army Sergeant Frank Smedra, who was wounded in Vietnam but made a choice that defined his character.

Smedra rejoined his unit after being wounded because, as he put it, he needed to get back to his boys.

The marshals were introduced at a gathering at the Masonic Center, where the bonds formed during military service were evident among attendees.

“Well it is just very bonding, when you are in the military. Just bonding with other people and its even like that over here, all the military people have a bond,” Smedra said.
